This session is designed to be useful as a CPD to primary school teachers, no matter which year group they teach. Ideally, this would be done as a whole school CPD, but at least two teachers should do this session together so that they have an opportunity to discuss their ideas and insights. Although the focus of this session is on Fractions, the session uses Fractions as a context in order to also consider broader issues of teaching and learning of mathematics related to task design and modification, and engaging students in key mathematical practices that are part of the Mathematics National Curriculum in England, such as mathematical reasoning and problem solving.
